Justus Heck
Justus Heck studied sociology, philosophy, and political science at Konstanz University and Bielefeld University. He was funded by the German National Academic Foundation, received his M.A. in 2012, and then joined the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology for his PhD research. From 2013 to 2016, he worked as a teaching assistant at Bielefeld University. Justus Heck conducts theoretical research on mediation in conflicts. The research question of his on-going PhD project is twofold: (1) how does the differentiation of society shape mediation, esp. modern society and its system of law; and (2) what difference does an intervening third party make for the conflict system interactionally. He has been in charge of the review section for the Journal “Soziale Systeme” since 2014. In April 2016, he joined the Department of Sociology of Lucerne University as research assistant within the module "Visual Semantics and Visual Observation" (Module Director: Prof. Cornelia Bohn, NCCR eikones ). In this project, his study focuses on making neutrality visible in situated logics.
